The Temple on the Water
Wat Ko Sa-At is the spiritual heart of Nong Song Hong—and the reason the district exists. Founded around 1869 by a monk named Phra Ya Lo, who led the first settlers here, the temple sits on an island surrounded by the two lakes that give Nong Song Hong its name.
Its name says it all: “Ko” means island, “Sa-At” means clean or pure. The ordination hall dates to 1927, and the temple remains an active place of worship in the Dhammayuttika Nikaya order. With water on all sides, it’s a peaceful spot for reflection, a quiet stroll, or a few good photos.

The complex consists of four laterite and sandstone structures, with a rectangular wall and a moat symbolizing Mount Sumeru—the center of the universe in Hindu cosmology. The carved lintels are still in remarkable condition, including a beautiful depiction of Vishnu reclining on the Naga.
